Educational and consciousness-raising movements for renewable energy in Turkey

Abstract

Turkey has some difficulties in meeting its energy need due to rapid industrialization and population growth. It is necessary to educate and raise the consciousness level of the future generations to use the renewable energy resources efficiently to meet this energy need. The education provided for the effective use of renewable energy resources should be based oil general information given in different disciplines and at different levels. This information can be divided into two. First, general information needed to understand the importance and role of the renewable energy in the future. Second, technical information specific to each area of technology required to conduct the field studies for renewable energy. This information is given to people through formal and informal education. This study first discusses the ways of conducting such formal and informal education and the needs for the education about renewable energy and then makes some suggestions.
