<title>On the Relationship Between Leader-Member Exchange and Employees' Turnover Intentions: Examination of Mediation Role of Trust in Leader</title>
<link>https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12809/11056</link>
<description>On the Relationship Between Leader-Member Exchange and Employees' Turnover Intentions: Examination of Mediation Role of Trust in Leader
Erdurmazlı, Eser; Kalkın, Gökdeniz
As the most important determinant of turnover behaviors, an employee's intention to leave his/her job stands out as one of the strongest predictors of that employee's actual turnover behavior. Economic opportunities, personal and work-related factors can play an important role in employees' intention to leave. Moreover, it is suggested in the literature that dyadic relationships between employees and their managers (i.e. leaders) are one of the important factors affecting that turnover intention. Although there are studies focusing on the relationship between leader-member exchange and turnover intention in the current literature, there is a need to explain how this relationship between leader-member exchange and turnover intention emerges, together with the related theoretical mechanisms. Considering that trust is an important factor determining the quality of relationships between managers and employees, it is however quite surprising that among studies in the existing literature investigating the ways how the quality of leader-member interactions affects employees' turnover intentions, there is no study that examines trust in the leader as a mediating mechanism. In this context, the current study examines the mediating effect of trust in leader in order to draw a clear picture of the relationship between the quality of leader-member interaction and the employee's intention to leave. This study makes use of social exchange and leader-member exchange theories to draw a clearer picture of this relationship. In order to test the hypothesis of the research, the data collected from 217 participants working in various hotels operating in Mugla province and carrying out different tasks were analyzed. In the analysis of the data collected by the survey method, PROCESS macro for SPSS/SAS developed by Hayes and regression analyses were used, so that direct and indirect effects were calculated. The findings of the study confirm that trust in leader mediates the relationship between leader-member exchange quality and employee turnover intention. In addition to its theoretical contribution that can fill the gap in the relevant literature, it is thought that the findings of this study may also help to retain the qualified workforce in the hospitality sector in the practical context.

<title>Investigation of the mechanical properties of polyurethane foam-filled FDM-printed honeycomb core sandwich composites for aircraft</title>
<link>https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12809/11018</link>
<description>Investigation of the mechanical properties of polyurethane foam-filled FDM-printed honeycomb core sandwich composites for aircraft
Kafalı, Haşim; Tunca, Erdem
Sandwich composites are widely used in aerospace materials thanks to their low weight and high strength properties. The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of polyurethane foam filling on honeycomb core structures produced by additive manufacturing in terms of mechanical strength and moisture absorption properties. Within the scope of the study, honeycomb structures were produced by a 3D printer using polylactic acid (PLA) filament. Then, the honeycomb core was filled with polyurethane foam, which is supplied in liquid form. After the core material was given its final form, it was combined with an epoxy and carbon fibre facesheet material using the vacuum infusion technique. After the sandwich composite production was completed, in-plane compression, three-point bending, shear, and moisture absorption tests were applied. The polyurethane foam filling greatly increased the mechanical strength, but slightly more moisture absorption occurred in this structure compared to a hollow honeycomb structure.

<title>An analysis of Dalaman International Airport’s (LTBS) noise prediction model and assessment of its noise impact</title>
<link>https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12809/10912</link>
<description>An analysis of Dalaman International Airport’s (LTBS) noise prediction model and assessment of its noise impact
Kafalı, Haşim; Güçlü, İbrahim
Purpose: In this context, this study aims to obtain information about the noise levels emitted to the environment by modeling the noise map of Dalaman Airport and correlating these noise values according to the Environmental Noise Directive (END) and World Health Organization (WHO) limits. Design/methodology/approach: Dalaman Airport Aeronautical Information Publication and 2022 flight data from the airport were analyzed. The noise levels exposed to schools and health institutions were determined using the Cnossos–Eu calculation method. Findings: Maximum noise levels were obtained as Lden 92.29 dB(A), Lday 85.24 dB(A), Levening 89.00 dB(A) and Lnight 85.23 dB(A) according to the noise indicators. Limit values recommended by the END and WHO according to noise indicator types and measurement results were correlated and evaluated. Originality/value: In the noise modeling of Dalaman Airport, there has previously been no evaluation of the noise limits recommended according to END or WHO in the literature.

<description>Workplace mindfulness and customer satisfaction: an investigation in hospitality industry based on Booking.com overall ratings
Erdurmazlı, Eser; Erdem, Haluk; Türen, Ufuk; Gökmen, Yunus; Kalkın, Gökdeniz
Despite the growing number of studies demonstrating its substantial potential in workplace settings, empirical studies on effects of workplace mindfulness on individual and organisational outcomes are still at a very early stage. Furthermore, the number of studies on how to improve attitudes and behaviours of hotel employees to a much higher level is insufficient. In this regard, based on self-regulation theory, this study examined the relationship between hotel employees' mindful behaviours and guest satisfaction in the form of Booking.com overall ratings. To that end, 286 employees from 20 hotels in Muğla province of Turkey constituted the study's sample. The results of the analyses revealed a significant relationship between workplace mindfulness and customer (guest) satisfaction. We expect that this study can make a significant contribution to filling the current theoretical gap in relevant literatures. We suggest that it may be very beneficial for hotel operators to invest in training and supporting of their employees to improve their mindful job attitudes and behaviours if they want to increase guest satisfaction so that they can become and remain competitive in the sector.
