Kaunos’taki quıntus vedıus capıto anıtı

Abstract

Özet: Quintus Vedius Capito Anıtı, 1970’li yılların başında, Liman Agorası’nın kuzey kenarındaki Stoa’nın hemen batısında, Glykinna Anıtı’nın kuzey kenarına bitişik durumda tespit edilmiştir. Anıtın kuzey yöne doğru olan bölümü yaklaşık kaide yüksekliğine kadar, diğer güney bölümü ise yalnızca kaideye kadar korunmuş durumdadır. Anıt en altta bir basamak, onun üstünde bir oturma bankı, alt tarafı profilli alçak bir kaide, yüksek orthostat bloklarla oluşturulmuş gövde ve üst tarafı profilli taç bloklarından oluşmaktadır. Anıt üzerinde 3 farklı alanda yazıt görülmektedir: En altta basamağın cephesinde; alçak kaidenin profilli kısmının üze- rindeki düz alanda ve orthostat bloklarının cephesinde. Anıtın inşasında şipoliyen malzeme kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca yapı tekniği açısından özensizdir. Bu yüzden bu anıt Kaunos için bu kadar değerli olan bu ailenin onuruna yakışmamaktadır. Bu da anıtın kentin başka bir yerinde dikili olduğunu ve tekrar bugünkü yerine bilemediğimiz herhangi bir nedenden dolayı yeniden dikilmiş olabileceğini akla getirmektedir. Vedius ailesi ile ilgili olarak, tanrıça Leto’nun başrahibi olan dede Quintus Vedius P. f. Capito ile başlayan rahiplik görevinin, Flavia Maxima gibi aynı sülalenin sonraki fertleri tarafından da sürdürülmüş olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Anıtın Hadrian Dönemi’nin sonlarında dikildiğini ve eklemelerin de, son kuşak olan Flavia Maxima’nın yaşadığı Antonius Pius Dönemi’nin sonlarında yapılmış olduğu söylenebilir.

Abstract: In the early 1970’s the monument oQuintus Vedius Capito was found on the northern edge of the Kaunos Harbour Agora, adjacent to the northern edge of the Glykinna Monument in the wesStoa. The northern part of this monument is preserved to approximately the height of the base while only the base survives from the southern part. Icomprises a step at the bottom, a bank above, the lower side of the profile of a low-base, high orthostate blocks and the upper side of the body and high-profile crown orthostate blocks. The inscriptions on the monument are in three different positions: on the bottom face of the step, on the flat section above the section profile of the lower base and, carved upon the face of the orthostate blocks. Some spolien materiawas employed and there is some imprecision in terms of the construction technique employed. In appearance therefore, this monument seems unworthy othe honor of the family members whose names are recorded on it who were so precious to Kaunos. Iseems for some reason this monument was firserected in some other part of the city and it was subsequently re-erected in its present location. Regarding the Vedius family, the father superior of the goddess Leto, grandfather Quintus Vedius, P. fCapito began with the priesthood, maintained, like Flavia Maxima, within the members of the same family. This monument was erected at the end of the reign of Emperor Hadrianus, the joining has been period of last member Flavia Maxima, the end oAntonius Pius.
