Determining effective factors on earthen pond fish farming adaptation process with Cox regression model
Özet
This study aims to determine the factors in the period between the year when the farmers heard about earthen pond fish farming for the first time and the year when they established farm in the Milas district of Mugla province located in southwest of Turkey. The Cox regression model is applied in order to determine effective factors on the adaptation process of the farmers towards earthen pond fish farming. As a result of the analysis, it is found that variables of reading fishery magazines regularly, visiting the district each day and cooperative membership have importance. It is determined that farmers who read fishery magazines regularly start earthen pond fish farming later. Reading fishery magazines regularly extends the adaptation process of earthen pond fish farming 2.84 times longer. On the other hand, it is revealed that cooperative membership and visiting the district each day shorten the duration in starting farms in earthen pond fish farming.
