EFFECTS OF STRESS CAUSED BY THE PUBLIC PERSONNEL SELECTION EXAMINATION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND OTHER TEACHER TRAINEES IN TURKEY
Özet
In this study I used the scanning method to detect the effects of stress resulting from the Public Personnel Selection Examination on teacher trainees studying at state universities in Turkey. Data were gathered using the Scale of Effect of Stress on Performance (Pehlivan, 1993) and it was found that the examination had negative impacts on students' performance and that their stress levels were high. No significant relationship was found between the effect of stress on performance and gender, but there was a significant relationship between the impact of stress on performance and age, educational institution, and participants' self-confidence in their ability to obtain a teaching position in state schools.
