Four new triterpenoid saponins, chionaeosides A-D (1-4) were isolated from the roots of Paronychia chionaea. On the basis of their spectroscopic data, the structures of the new saponins were established as 3-o-alpha-L-arabinopyranosylgypsogenic acid 28-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 -> 3)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 -> 6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1), 3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosylgypsogenic acid 28-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 -> 6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2), 3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyigypsogenic acid 28-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (3), and 3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosylgypsogenic acid (4).en_US
