Özet
The art of theatre, relevant to the various features of people's life and retaining the ancient beliefs and the archaic traces of the traditions and habits of these people, additionally preserves their history, culture,geneology and their relations with other people. Because of this, it is very important that we should systematically examine the theatrical culture of Turkic people. The development of theatre among the Turkic people has gone through a different process as compared to the other people. To a great extent, it has been based upon the culture,religious philosophy, tradition and the mitology of the Turks. In this article, the progressive periods of Turkic People's Theatre have been examined in three levels: 1. The constitution of theatrical concepts within the framework of belief systems concerning the culture of hunting and fishing. 2. Seasonal feasts relevant to the cultures of agriculture and hushandry and the emergence of village plays containing many aspects of theatre in contemporary level. 3. Professional and modern people's theatres emerging as a result of urbanism such as Orta Oyunu(Middle Play), Karagöz, Meddah, Hokkabaz, Kukla etc. Although Turkish theatre entered into a new era as a result of the first European type plays written by M.F.Ahundzade and I.Shinasi in 19th century and began to develop theatrical system and culture in accordance with the conditions of that age, in its base,Turkish culture and traditions lie.
