Ebeveynlerin Çocukların Matematik Eğitimine İlişkin Görüşlerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Araştırma, ebeveynler n çocukların matemat k eğ t m ne l şk n görüşler n n ncelenmes amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evren n Türk ye'de çocukları okul önces eğ t m kurumlarına devam eden, normal gel ş m gösteren 4-5 yaş çocukların ebeveynler oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın çalışma grubuna, evren ç nden M ll Eğ t m Bakanlığı'na bağlı bağımsız anaokulları ve anasınıfları arasından tesadüfî olarak, araştırmaya katılmaya gönüllü olan her sınıftan en az k ebeveyn olmak üzere toplam 344 ebeveyn dâh l ed lm şt r. Araştırmada genel tarama model kullanılmış olup, ver toplama aracı olarak çocuklar ve a leler ne l şk n genel b lg ler toplamak amacıyla "Genel B lg Formu" ve ebeveynler n çocukların matemat k eğ t m ne l şk n görüşler n n ncelenmek amacıyla or j nal formu Amer ka'da Bu ld ng Blocks projes kapsamında Clements ve Sarama (2000/2014) tarafından gel şt r len ve araştırmacılar tarafından formun or j nal temel alınarak geçerl k çalışması yapılan "Okul Önces Programda Matemat k Eğ t m Değerlend rme Ebeveyn Formu" kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı doğrultusunda elde ed len ver ler n anal z nde; frekans ve yüzde dağılımları kullanılmıştır. This study aims to investigate parents' Views on children's mathematical education. The population of this study consists of the parents having children who are 4-5 years old and in normal developmental range attending preschool classrooms in Turkey. The sample group consists at least two parents who voluntered to participate in the study from each classroom, 344 parents in total, that was drawn randomly among the independent preschool and preschool classrooms affiliated to the Ministery of Education. Survey method was used in the present study and as data collection tools, “General Information Form” was used to obtain the demographic information of parents and their children and “Evaluation of Mathematical Education in Preschool Education Program-Parent Form” was used to investigate parents' views on children's mathematical education, which was originally developed by Clements Sarama (2000, 2014) as part of “Building Blocks Project” in the United States, and translated and adapted to Turkish, based on the original form, by researchers. Considering the purpose of the research, descriptive statistical methods, frequency and percentage distribution, were used in the analysis. The results of the study showed that, the majority of the parents know the basic mathematical concepts of children's math education, watch TV with their children as main activity part of daily activities, and the majority of the parents stated that they have computers at home and their children play computer games for educational and fun purposes. In addition, the majority of the parents pointed out that the teachers send home math activities at least one—two days week and these activities support their children's mathematics learning.
